Freelance writer & Game Master based in Chicago.

Andrew Liguori is a writer, improviser, and freelance GM based in Chicago. Focusing on player driven, reactive games, he’s been running RPGs for over 13 years and doesn’t intend to stop anytime soon.

Making the world of TTRPGs accessible to everyone.

The core of my GMing philosophy is simple, a game should be reactive to player choice and agency. I have never been interested in games where choice is reduced to following a set of predetermined plot beats. Player action should have consequences, and the world should respond in an organic way. This is what I want to bring to others, a recentering of the game on the group and players. Characters, stories, quests, all of that is meaningful and worth investing in, but the people around the table are and always have been the most important part of any game.

Maybe you’re new, maybe experienced, but you’ve got the hunger now, you want to roll some dice and crash through the walls of a story. This is for you, a handspun tale of you and yours, something to have amongst yourselves forever.

  • $25/hr.

Running a game is hard, it’s a truth so callous we shouldn’t have to say it out loud.

Whether you’re starting out or a veteran hitting a block, I can look over where you’re at and get on a call to work through it.

Writing

  • I will brew something strange, odd, and just for you. A continent, a city, a world, a person, whatever your needs are for the game you want to run. Run a game in a world that exists solely among you and your table, where every mistake is a happy accident and all tales are your own.

$25/hr. If your project is larger (100+ pages), we will negotiate a lump sum.

  • $20/hr.

Whatever you’re working on, ambition outstrips all. Looking up to realize six hours of work has become a sprawl of words and ideas swimming in the same soup is daunting. Everyone needs an extra pair of eyes on their work. I’m happy to lend you mine, for a price.

  • Pre-written campaigns and one shots by ole Andrew will be available for purchase in October 2024.

Initial consultations are offered at no charge and payment is not required until after session zero. While artists should be paid for their work, no one should be hindered from playing because of money. This is a game of dice and paper and dream stuff we thread between each other.

Payment plans are entirely doable, and I am happy to discuss rates on any services offered above. Thank you for your time.

About Ole Andrew:

I found DnD around thirteen years ago, before actual plays and podcasts started to demystify the act of playing, let alone running the games. With my brothers and a few friends, we learned through mistakes, joyous, frightful, embarrassing, exhilarating moments that remain as a quiet smile on a bad day and a shared memory over lunch.

In the years since, I have learned rules, roles, and more, but the core of what keeps me coming back is that, the act of playing together and creating memories to be shared only between those at the table.

Expanding out beyond DnD, the world of TTRPGs has opened up a constant source of surprise, delight, and wonder. This has been my primary mode of artistic expression for over a decade now, and teaching others how to play and what can be done within the game is a constant source of joy.

I have made some of my best friends through these games, and no matter what else becomes of me and my life, that is a thing to be treasured above most. I hope to share this and help others find that same joy. Thank you for stopping by and giving a little of your time.

Let’s talk about it.

"Andrew is an incredibly giving and creative GM. He brings a ton of prep to each session, yet is unafraid to fully pivot and change direction according to his players' interests. He navigates any game's rules with fairness and clarity, and is always a clear fan of the players. I've had so much fun playing in the worlds Andrew creates!"

“I was nervous about starting DnD, but Andrew completely blew me away. His worlds are rich and everything feels so real. I find myself wanting to dig deeper and deeper to everything he creates. Three years and four different campaigns later, I can confidently say he’s the best DM I’ve ever had”

- Ash, Elven Rogue

“I don’t think words can truly explain how fantastic Andrew is. He spends so much time crafting storylines, working with party members, and creating a safe space. His NPC character work never fails to make me giggle and further the story. As someone who was new to D&D, Andrew always made me feel like my ideas were important and answered all my questions about how the game works. I couldn’t recommend collaborating with him more!”

- Kad, Dragonborn Monk

“I always have such a great time getting to play any campaign that Andrew GMs! He comes in so thoroughly prepared and ready to effortlessly explain any difficult game mechanics or quirks of the campaign. At the same time, he is absolutely flexible and ready to roll with whatever the players bring to the table. Andrew is a true players’ GM, and I always feel that he genuinely wants to see me succeed (without making things too easy on us 😉). The worlds he helps us craft are rich and imaginative, and his humor, creativity, and empathy bring so much to any game he helms. I cannot recommend him more highly!”

-Brooke, Atlanta, GA

Andrew is the most talented storyteller I have shared a table with. In addition to his mastery of descriptive imagery, Andrew has top notch improv skills which allow him to weave in and out of scenes like an expert, and create memorable characters and storylines on the fly. His combat is also exciting and painted with words so well that you'll forget you're rolling dice in your pajamas. Come for the unforgettable NPCs, the hilarious character voices, and test your mettle against some truly scary homebrew monsters."

-Reagan, Human Fighter

“Andrew is one of the most talented DMs I've ever had the pleasure of playing with. He's always invested in the players' choices and no matter what idea you bring him, he works with you to make sure it pays off in ways you never imagined. In my experience, he's especially skilled at all things absurd, off-the-wall, and downright horrific, but he tailors every arc and campaign to suit the interests and boundaries of everyone at the table. You'll come away from his campaigns with a notebook of borderline incomprehensible notes, but you'll remember exactly what they all mean. Just sign up already okay”
